Sunshine Blogger Award

I’ve been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Thank you Outrunning My Demons for the nomination – I am incredibly honored. This month marks a couple huge landmarks that make this nomination that much more meaningful – 1 year anniversary of Midwest Bliss and reaching 200 Followers. So, thank you Outrunning My Demons for the nomination.

Here are the rules for being nominated…

  • Thank the blogger that nominated you in the post and link back to their blog
  • Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you
  • Nominate 8-11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award Logo on your post and/or in your blog

Here are the answers to the questions I was asked:

1. What is your favorite topic to blog about?

Anything Midwest. I started Midwest Bliss with the idea of doing park reviews for readers. There seemed to be a need for that, particularly in and around the Illinois area where we live. I also like to branch out and do some other “points of interest” writing. I have a special interest in emergency responder mental health and the effects of stress on the body – which I suffer from myself.

2. Do you prefer salty or sweet?

I can’t really say I have a preference for either. The past three years or so has seen me making an attempt to improve my health. We all know that these two things can be equally dangerous when not eaten in moderation, and let’s face it, folks, when we have a craving we don’t do anything in moderation.

3. Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert?

Oh, Introvert all the way, and proud of it. I could, and have thought about writing a topic about being an Introvert. To me, I would much rather be an Introvert than Extrovert. Why – Most of the time I prefer to be alone, except for my lovely wife. I’m not big on close relationships because they are far too messy. I’m quiet by nature and prefer to be under the radar most of the time.

The strange thing about me and this personality designation, I am a Manager for a large healthcare provider which requires me to interact with people every day; sometimes in quite large numbers at once. My degree, along with several years of management exposure, I have been forced to expand my personal comfort zone.

4. Where is your number one place you would like to visit?

I don’t think I could say I have a “number one” place to visit, but if I was forced to pick one place, I would have to say Denver, Colorado. There is something about Denver that draws me, and it’s not the weed 🙂

I love the modern atmosphere Denver has embraced. Denver and the surrounding area also embraces its attraction for the outdoor enthusiasts, AND if you’ve never seen the Rocky Mountains, you must do that.

5. Where is the most beautiful place you have ever traveled to?

As above, Colorado is by far the most beautiful place that I have traveled to. A very close second is Mexico – specifically, Cancun area and the Riviera Maya area. There is something about looking out into the deep blue ocean from some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

6. If you were forced to pick one…Are you beauty, brawn, or brains?

None of the above – ha. If I was forced – brains. Part of my introversion personality, I love to learn and try new things for the sake of expanding my experiences and knowledge.

7. What is your birth order?

A middle kid here. I have an older sister and a younger sister. Some have said that birth order is impactful in personality or behavior. For me, I am not sure that is as true as being the only boy. I think being the only boy impacted my personality much more than birth order. I think that is where/how I formed into an introvert – I pretty much played by myself, had my own toys, and had to entertain myself when my sisters had girly activities.

8. What book/movie closely resembles the story of your life?

Mother, Jugs, and Speed 🙂  That’s all I could come up with, but my life as a Paramedic has some parallels with the old Cosby movie.

9. What is the temperature outside right now?

It’s like 35 degrees right now. As I write this blog post, I am out exploring a state park in Illinois. I am inside my RV, so I’m not freezing, but it is kind of freezing outside for April.

10. What is the last thing you ate?

Ribeye steak with portabello mushrooms and asparagus. On the grill and in the great outdoors makes everything taste better.

11. What is your favorite hobby?

I have so many hobbies it would be too hard to pick just one. The top of my list and these all get just about equal preference: Hiking, fishing, camping, running, photography (a new one but quickly becoming a favorite), and eating 🙂

Here are the blogs I nominate…

Here are my questions for you…

1. What was/is your motivation for blogging?

2. What is your favorite indoor activity?

3. What is your favorite outdoor activity?

4. Favorite destination?

5. Where is the most beautiful place you have ever traveled to?

6. If you could meet anyone, who would it be?

7. What is your favorite food?

8. Last movie you saw?

9. Last book you read?

10. Do you prefer city living or country living?

11. What is your favorite hobby?

Thanks for participating. I look forward to hearing your answers.
