Traveling between Chicago and St. Louis on I-55? If so, then you need to stop by this fabulous local barbecue joint located in Troy, Illinois: Fire-N-Smoke Wood-Fired Kitchen.

I don’t normally do single restaurant reviews or posts, but I’m making an exception for this one. My wife and I came across this restaurant about three years ago, shortly after it opened. We were so impressed that we now stop for some BBQ each time we pass by on our way to or from the St. Louis area.

Obviously great food or I wouldn’t be writing about it to convince you to give this place a try if you’re in the area. Another great reason to give Fire-N-Smoke Wood-Fired Kitchen a try is their commitment to locally sourced, all-natural meat products. Additionally, the restaurant serves local craft brew (if you’re into that).

On Sundays, the restaurant gives 10% of sales to local churches. Hey, that’s a great reason to stop in and check this place out.

Location

Located immediately off of I-55 in Troy, Illinois, you won’t have to spend time searching for it. In fact, if you aren’t prepared for an immediate hard turn into the parking lot, you’ll likely drive right past it. I am including Google Map location for you to “click” on and save right to your phone or GPS.

Atmosphere

Fire-N-Smoke Wood-Fired Kitchen is located in a newer building, however, the inside decor is pretty rustic and will have you feeling like you’re smack in the middle of BBQ country as soon as you walk in. The smell of smoke will tease your senses as you walk to the counter to place your order.

Pretty much a “no frills” joint. You’ll order at the counter, pay right then, grab your number, fill your drink yourself, take your order number, and find a seat. A server will bring your delicious food to your table on a tray and dig in.

Menu

Something for everyone – not just BBQ on the Menu here. You’ll find burgers, wings, and a variety of other things for the “Non-BBQ” eaters. But, if you’re a lover of BBQ like me, you’ll definitely want to get a sample of as much as you can.

I usually get the 3 Meat Platter, which comes with two very generous side orders of comfort food. I didn’t snap any photos of my food – too busy eating. Trust me, you’ll love it. Just come hungry.

Prices are really pretty comparable to any other sit-down restaurant that isn’t considered “fast food”. My usual 3 Meat Platter is $18 plus drink, so for $20, you’ll have yourself a big meal. Great desserts as well for those with a sweet tooth.

As always, thanks for reading.
