World’s Most Beautiful Drive
Grandview Drive in Peoria Heights, Illinois – built in 1903 was visited by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1910 when he called this location the World’s Most Beautiful Drive.
One of my favorite destinations, I often will come here to take in a walk or just sit at one of the roadside viewing areas to admire some of the best views in all of Central Illinois.
The drive was listed on the National Registry of Historic Places in 1996 and includes some of the loveliest homes in the area, which helped it earn its designation as the World’s Most Beautiful Drive.
If you ever find yourself traveling through Central Illinois, the World’s Most Beautiful Drive should certainly be on your list to visit.
Below are some recent fall photos I took at some of the best locations on the drive. Any time is a good time to visit this lovely location, however, if you really want the biggest bang for your buck, visit during peak fall foliage – you can thank me later.
Enjoy the photos and thanks for reading.

Gorgeous!
Beautiful fall colors and photos!🙂
Yes – Illinois has had a really pretty fall. We left today to head south to Shawnee Forest and most of the leaves have fallen in the last couple days. Winter is just around the corner. Thanks for stopping by 🙏🏻
The fall colors in these photographs are absolutely gorgeous!
Thanks 🙏🏻
Love your photo’s of all the fall colors. The colors are starting to muddy here in Wisconsin.
It’s peak here in Central Il and will really start to fall from the trees now. I’m headed to Southern Illinois this weekend to extend my fall foliage so that will be fun. Thanks for reading 🙏🏻
Sounds fun, have a good time 🙂
